Can’t say that I did a thing except work on the library project today, prepare a light evening meal, and water plants. Last year I put in an irrigation system to get ready for this year’s big landscape project. My landscaping was 20 years old and Squirt got bitten by a copperhead out in the flowerbed last year, so those old overgrown shrubs had to go. Squirt lived to bark the tale, but it was a close call and it gives me the shivers to think I could as easily have stuck my hand or foot into the flowerbed and taken the bite. I’m not nearly as brave as Squirt and since we don’t keep a defibrillator at the house, I’m quite sure I would have died more quickly from a heart attack than from the snakebite.
We got the landscaping in last week and then turned on the irrigation system. Water went everywhere except where it should go. Long story short - we have a well problem - a serious well problem. Who knew - our water in the house is city water, but we hooked up the irrigation system to the well we used before the city ran water out this far. Unless it rains every day, I’ve got quite a bit of watering to do until the well is repaired, which we hope will be soon. I went heavy on blooming plants this year, wouldn’t you know - so I’m watering every day. They are real pretty, though, and I thought the nicest thing I could do for my readers this evening would be to send flowers. Enjoy!
Moles are not a problem for us. Squirt is very serious about his gardening chores.
