I am a wife, mother, grandmother, dog lover, book lover, stitcher, community advocate (particularly where the public library is concerned) and wannabe photographer. Well, I want to be able to take good photographs; I don't want to be a professional photographer. I've been handling a needle and thread since before I learned to read. It has been a lifelong hobby, or maybe I should say a lifelong passion. Most of my sewing experience has been in garments, and in the last 20 or so years, smocking and heirloom sewing has been the thing. Now I'm developing a serious interest in quilting; we'll see where it leads. Reading is an important part of my life and my interests run the gamut, but I'd say good fiction (particularly southern writers) is what I like best. I've always had a dog, mostly smallish ones and I've only owned 1 purebred dog in my life. Shelter dogs are my kind of dog. I am married and I have what they call a blended family - my husband is my 2nd and I am his 2nd wife. We will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this coming October. A blow-out kind of trip is in the works as we think we'd better do the 25th up big; it is unlikely that we will be alive to see the 50th. We are the living proof that you can successfully navigate a blended family. We adore the grandchildren and we are what I call "keeping" grandparents - we love to have the grandkids around. I guess that is a glimpse of me in words and since I don't know Photoshop well enough to give you a doctored up photo, I was forced to put up the real me. That "cultured in Tennessee" phrase was born of the fact that I'm a native Tennessean. Never been too far from home. I love Tennessee and I intend to draw my last breath on Tennessee soil.
Oh, and my oldest grandson is my editor. When you see grammatical errors, it is usually because he hasn't had time to proof my blog posts.
