Libraries

I love libraries and if you’ve followed my blog, you know that I am working hard to see our community have the library it deserves. In fact, I haven’t done much except apply myself to our library project for the last couple of months. I didn’t even let the flood steal more than a couple of days from the task at hand.
I’ve now written 2 major applications for loans and grants and tonight a delegation from our board of trustees attended the County Commission meeting. One of the grants must be applied for and utilized through our County governing body. We’ve had some struggling among our own board over this project, but our County government was completely supportive and passed a resolution to support our efforts with all County Commissioners voting “Aye”. The important documents and resolutions were signed, and we’ll be ready to submit the last of the forms to the State tomorrow. Before we left the meeting, someone passed me a Mahatma Gandhi quote that had been written in red on an index card. It read:

“First they laugh at you,
Then they fight you,
Then you win.

I drove home from the meeting with another beautiful sunset on the horizon and the feeling that all will eventually turn out well.
