There is not a grant writer on this earth that has to worry about me competing for their job. My friend, Susan, say she loves grant writing (is this technically one word or two?). But I do not love grant writing. In fact, it is one of the most miserable chores I've ever undertaken. I guess I just suffer from ADHD too much to sit still and concentrate on such a task, but I'll do most anything to see our community get a decent library. When I was driving around town last night getting the necessary signatures on the forms, I commented to Nancy, one of the signers, that maybe I've turned into a community activist. She maintains that a community activist bombs things so she thinks I am really a community advocate. And in my advancing age, I guess I really have turned into a community advocate. At any rate, the grant is finished and will be submitted tomorrow. Maybe we will actually be granted the funds we so desperately need. Now I am moving on to the fundraising part of this library project. That will not be easy either, but at least I won't have to sit still. The only sitting still I like to do involves handling fabric, threads, needles, etc. Maybe I'll get back to sewing soon.
And I definitely plan to get back to sewing soon. I think I have a potential new sewing buddy. My granddaughter thinks she might like to give it a try. She turned 13 this past Sunday and today was her last day of school this year. We spent the afternoon together and she seemed fascinated with some of the patchwork I did in the Paducah class last week. After her mother came and got her, I noticed the sweet note she left for me on the dry erase board - my big screen sticky note. It made my heart sing.
