Welcome to the first blog post from www.culturedintennessee.blogspot.com. Those of you who shopped with me on-line, visited my bricks and mortar store, attended some of the schools I hosted, or followed my work in Creative Needle, will know me by my real name, Carol Harris. I sold my business in August, 2008, and Creative Needle has since ceased publication. The business I formerly owned, known simply as Carol Harris Company, has now permanently closed, so I decided that a fresh start with a re-branding of myself would be in order. My new on-line identity turned out to be a quick and easy choice. My grandchildren call me “Mimi” and I have an extra special group of friends who call me “Pearl”.
You might wonder why my nickname is Pearl. The reason has to do with the fact that I am a Tennessean. Did you know that 40% of the world’s pearls come from mussels grown in the Tennessee River? The pearl is Tennessee’s state gem. And then there was a famous Pearl from Tennessee by the name of Minnie Pearl. Sort of sounds like Mimi Pearl, doesn’t it? Howdeeeeee!!
According to the thesaurus there are numerous synonyms for the word “pearl”. Just a few of them include treasure, seed, and find. I hope to sow my blog with pearls that you will enjoy, be inspired by, or find useful in some way.
Navigate the menubar. Maybe you’ll find a treat in an unexpected place.
